Live everyone in the veterinary field, Alana has always loved animals. She began her veterinary nursing career in 1995. At that time, she worked at a small animal clinic and went to school to obtain her AAS in Veterinary Technology. During her schooling, she was also certified in Wildlife Management and did externships at the University of Minnesota Wildlife Center and at the Milwaukee County Zoo. After school, she worked with exotics and slowly moved into a clinic that practiced holistic veterinary care. She loves a “whole body” approach to veterinary nursing and decided to go back to school. In 2004, she graduated with a B.S. in Veterinary Science with a minor in Animal Welfare from Purdue University. Later in her career, she advanced her education and received her MBA. She has worked for many years managing veterinary hospitals, working in emergency medicine, working in shelter medicine, and even using her talents as the director of a veterinary technician program. Alana is also the owner of Wild Roots Yoga & Wellness and Three Chicks Bakery. In addition, she is the Founder and Executive Director of Cultivating Sacred, a nonprofit in Dolores, CO, that helps women recover from trauma. Alana remarks that she is absolutely thrilled to be on this journey, and although it has been a deep dive into self-discovery, she is truly blessed to be where she is.
