Shannon Mazur, DVM
Dr. Shannon Mazur joined the Riverview Animal Hospital staff as the directing veterinarian of the emergency and critical care service in June 2010. Dr. Mazur received her Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Lewis College while working as a technician here at Riverview, and attended veterinary school at Colorado State University where she graduated with honors in 2009. Dr Mazur became the managing veterinarian in 2015. Dr Mazur enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine (especially giant breeds, emergency and internal medicine, and ophthalmology). Dr. Mazur enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and skiing, cooking, and listening to music with her husband, 2 young children, dog (and kitty).
Randy Hays, DVM
Dr Randy Hays joined Riverview Animal Hospital in 2005. He moved to Durango after practicing in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. Dr. Hays graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelors degree in Animal Science in 1998 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. Dr. Hays enjoys living in Durango and being outdoors with his wife and 2 daughters.
Jessica Brooks, DVM
Dr. Jessica Brooks grew up in Midland, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She practiced at a big clinic in Santa Fe before moving to Durango in 2010. Dr. Brooks loves the variety in veterinary medicine, where she can see everything from a healthy kitten or puppy, to performing a complex surgery, to dentistry, to hospice care, all in the same day. She also loves the long term relationships formed with clients and their furry family members. She is a member of the AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) and heads Riverview's Feline Task Force. At home, she loves being a mom and spending time with her family in the mountains. She has three cats (Jinx, Charm, and Spell), and one adorable dog (Bristow).
Lynda Bernsteen, DVM
Dr. Lynda Bernsteen graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She continued her education in the Los Angeles area, completing two internships and also working in a private practice for two years. Dr. Bernsteen then went on to complete a small animal surgery residency at the University of California Davis and became a board-certified surgeon in 2001. Her special areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery, complex soft-tissue surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Bernsteen recently moved to this area and lives in Mancos. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and shar-pei, Daphne, and working on their small farm towards a self-sufficient lifestyle.
Karen Nollet, DVM
Dr. Karen Nollet graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. Although she's originally from Wisconsin (Go Badgers!), she's lived in Colorado for the past 4 years and loves the mountains. Dr. Karen has a special interest in cat and dog behavior challenges, internal medicine, geriatric medicine and dentistry. She loves working closely with pet families to make sure their furry family members have the best quality care. When Dr. Karen isn't working, she loves hiking in the mountains with her husband and young son. She shares her home and heart with Gordy (pictured), Francios The Cat, 2 horses and 2 mini donkeys.
